it’s december and i’m happy to be back home in the woods. we spent two enjoyable, whirlwind weeks in michigan eating lots of food, visiting family, and attending sporting events and i didn’t grab my big camera even once. not once! but now we are home. this is our first december in the cabin. in fact, it’s my first december that i will spend in my own home. in the past i’ve either been living with my parents or traveling home to their house for a good chunk of holiday time. this year our cabin is only a short drive away from my family, so we will be staying here for the most part. darin and i are planning on getting a mini-tree and i’ve already got plans to christmas-ify the cabin in other ways. i gathered berries and greenery on a walk this morning and even figured out how to finagle extension cords so we could have electric candles in our two front windows.
i’m looking forward to seeing winter arrive here. we are still waiting for a real snow accumulation, but the ponds are going through their annual freeze-up. i walked a different path this morning and tried to photograph the woods in a little bit of a new way. i’m still enamored with all the hemlocks. and chickadees and woodpeckers were out and about. i love winter!
in other news, i finally opened my own Etsy shop! Check it out: Hemlock Adventures Shop! I’d still like to add more sizes of photos and make edits in a few places, but otherwise it’s good to go! I’m not sure how much I will sell in the long run, but I’m glad a friend of mine talked me into going for it. Right now there’s mostly seasonal winter shots. :)
